Gustavo Roldán picks up the baton of Toni Batllori’s legacy to give life to the Coscorrón sisters. They share the stroke of the line, the fine sense of humour and the acute observation of reality.

The Mystery of the Horror House

In the new adventure, the head of the amusement park that has been installed in the city requires the services of the Coscorrón sisters. For some time now, the attractions have been suffering inexplicable power cuts that cause more than one scare. When they begin to investigate, they see that strange movements are taking place in the horror house.

The horror house hides much more than just terrifying characters...

“Now that Toni Batllori has moved to a new neighbourhood, it's my turn to take over

to illustrate the stories of the Coscorrón sisters, written by Anna Cabeza. It has been a great challenge and also an enormous pleasure. It is always difficult to continue a task started by someone with so much personality. But there was something in common between us: a sense of humour.

These stories are full of humour, and, in that, Toni was a master. I knew his lightheartedness in drawing. That pushed me, gave me encouragement. When I was asked to illustrate a new book of these three ladies, giving me complete freedom to start from scratch and take them to my territory, I said yes immediately. Looking at the illustrations, it was obvious that Toni had a lot of fun with these stories. And, for me, it was as if he was winking at me from beyond the grave, as if he was saying to me: "You're going to have a great time too".
